Call for feature requests: Alpha 2 in development

alpha, feature requests

Since our initial Alpha release last September, we have rolled more and more features onto the site. Now however, we are gearing up a pretty large release we are code naming, “Chamberlain”. Its too soon to hype what this release will contain, but suffice it to say it will be a major step forward from where we are today feature-wise.

However, we would be remiss if we did not ask for feature requests from you, our awesome user. If there is a particular feature or enhancement you would like to see, please comment here on this thread, or privately via our email (hellothere AT nsyght DOT com).

One note regarding our delicious and magnolia integration: Because we are getting more and more new users with rather large bookmark collections, we have had to re-visit our integration to avoid sending too many requests when we do our initial export. This re-work will be completed in the next day or two, and normal import/export operations will resume.

When I do a search, I can see how many other users have bookmarked a page in the results. It would be great if I could click to see who those other users are. It would be a smart way to find new friends and also to find related bookmarks.

It would be nice to have a short text explaining the content of the Friendspotting sidebar, something like “The latest bookmarks of your friends”.

It looks like you import the title and the description of bookmarks, but not the tags (the tags are not visible in the bookmark list on my profile page). I’m sure tags would be valuable for your algorithm. Also, I would love to have a tag cloud on my profile page, preferably merging tags from my different bookmarking accounts. That would make navigating my bookmarks so much easier.

    Hi Susanne,
Some great suggestions here. Keep them coming!

    Here’s another one ;)

When deleting bookmarks, it would be handy to have a box to tic for each bookmark and a button to to push to delete. This way, I could delete many bookmarks at a time.

Can we import our URLs from netvibes? Also, can you set up “nsyght alerts” like google alerts, but just for the my sites?

@hdunce: great suggestions. re: the alerts facility, while we have the capability of doing that now, we just don’t have the index size as of yet to make it a compelling feature for everyone.

re: importing. We do have some importing features coming up soon, but not sure what you mean by importing from Netvibes. Via OPML?

@admin yes via OPML (not positive because i am not a programmer). Whatever it is- make it simpler for normal users. i think the reason why it took so long for RSS to pick up is because the internet needed to explain what RSS meant to everyone. If you just say “import the sites you read from netvibes, google reader, etc here” and then via entering passwords u pull them in, more people will understand.

    later.
